Well, today was the last day of dewberry harvesting for this piece of Texas. It started on April 9th making this a pretty good run. I think this year’s extraordinary amount of rain help produce a great crop.
This photo from May 5th shows the declining harvest and my harvesting gear. This grass was really high so poking around in it for berries can be a bit unnerving. The tennis racket is a great tool for dewberry hunting while looking under leaves, through grass, and making for sure that when I pull my hand up with a berry that a copperhead is not attached.
